A bone density test is called a DXA or DEXA scan. This is not the same as a bone scan. A bone density test
uses a small amount of x-ray to measure the amount of mineral in the bones of your lower back, hip or sometimes the forearm.
It gives an indication of the fragility of the bone and its risk to fracture.
50% of women post menopause have osteoporosis.
Up to 20% of men older than 60 have osteoporosis.
Don't wait for a debilitating fracture.
Take steps to ensure your independence and quality of life with a routine bone density scan.
